The English level requirements for nurses who want to register in the United Kingdom have changed and will be effective on December 5, 2018.
Since last Wednesday, November 28, it has been approved by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) the acceptance of an IELTS certificate as proof of English level with a minimum of 6.5 in writing (written part).
Until now, to be able to certify the level of English and obtain registration as a nurse in the UK, applicants needed to obtain minimums reflected in the following table:
Listening | Reading | Writing | Speaking
IELTS | 7 | 7 | 7 | 7 |
OET | B grade | B grade | B grade | B grade |
Combined tests are also accepted and can be consulted on the official NMC website.
With the new changes, the average required will be 7 and the table of minimum IELTS results by parts would look like this:
Listening | Reading | Writing | Speaking
IELTS | 7 | 7 | 6.5 | 7 |
The guide with all the details about the effective changes on December 5, will be updated on the official website shortly.
